What is the Flu Day of Action?
CMS is piloting the flu campaign in California. As part of the campaign, CMS is partnering with federal, state, and local stakeholders to improve access to annual flu vaccinations among low-income Medicare beneficiaries. Many people 65 years of age and older, individuals with disabilities, and beneficiaries with limited English proficiency face barriers accessing preventive health services, and information about and access to flu vaccinations is just one of these challenges.
Why December 5?
CMS is coordinating their social outreach with the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions’ (CDC) National Influenza Vaccination Week December 2 – 8. CMS is organizing the Day of Action on December 5 to ask organizations like yours to use social media to promote flu vaccinations using the hashtags #FightFlu and #CalMediConnect. The goal is to get as many organizations as possible sharing the message that getting an annual flu vaccination is important for beneficiaries and their families, care providers, and community members.
