Webinar for Orange County Advocates
Tuesday, February 27, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
These monthly webinars are designed specifically for advocates, stakeholders, and community-based organizations working with eligible beneficiaries. They provide important information about the Coordinated Care Initiative (CCI), launched by the state of California for seniors and people with disabilities who have both Medicare and Medi-Cal services—aka dual eligible (see CalDuals.org for more information).
In Orange County, the CCI includes OneCare Connect, a new health plan that coordinates Medicare and Medi-Cal benefits for people who remain in Original Medicare (fee-for-service). OneCare Connect is designed to help provide extra support for low-income seniors and people with disabilities in Orange County.
The CCI grew out of research and pilots conducted in California and other states showing that dual eligible individuals can benefit from better coordination of care. Webinar topics include:
1. Overview: How the Coordinated Care Initiative is changing health care for dual eligible beneficiaries;
2. Continuity of Care: How the dual eligible beneficiaries may continue to see their doctors if they join the OneCare Connect plan;
3. Care Coordination: How OneCare Connect can help Medicare & Medi-Cal beneficiaries coordinate their health care, including long-term services and supports;
4. Important Resources: CalDuals.org; CCI Health Plan; HICAP; and the Ombudsman.
Speaker: Rita Cruz Gallegos, Outreach Strategist, representing The California Department of Health Care Services.
