The transportation benefit under Cal MediConnect has changed. Beneficiaries will now have access to non-medical transportation rides beyond the 30 rides originally covered. Cal MediConnect plans, like Medi-Cal plans, must now ensure that members have unlimited access to transportation services to attain medical services that are medically necessary.
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) released a Duals Plan Letter to provide clarification and guidance about these changes to Medi-Cal Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) and Non-Medical Transportation (NMT) services.
