DHCS Releases Duals Plan Letter Updating Transportation Benefit

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) finalized the Duals Plan Letter (DPL) that provides clarification and guidance about changes to Medi-Cal Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) and Non-Medical Transportation (NMT) services.

Beneficiaries now have access to non-medical transportation rides beyond the 30 rides originally covered. Cal MediConnect plans, like Medi-Cal plans, must now ensure that members have unlimited access to transportation services to attain medical services that are medically necessary.

For more information about NEMT and NMT services, see this fact sheet or past post. For all Medi-Cal Managed Care All Plan, Policy, and Dual Plan Letters, click here.

My daughter has MediCal, and MediCare via Kaiser. It was determined that she is NOT eligible for non-emergency rides to medical appointments. Can you verify that. Thank you.
