This meeting will focus on beneficiary protections, specifically on protections that are important beyond those discussed related to appeals and grievances. Also, demonstration health plans will discuss how they currently manage the grievance and appeals process.
Meeting Materials:
I did not attend this meeting as planned because the previous meetings have been VERY frustrating. The health plans have been given the bulk of the time. A few people have been called on to comment with little response or baffling responses.
“Readiness” is a mandate. Clearly, the lack of balancing consumer questions bore little credibility. I find this disrespectful of the people for whom the “managed” care are to be served. We are being “managed”, kept people who are not receiving respect or interest. Health plans frequent response is, “We don’t know.” Is this readiness? Or an easy dodge.
We are being herded. If CMS reads carefully the letter from CA Medical Association it spells out the many reasons why we…and the medical profession sees this “demonstration” as anything but a demonstration rather a coming slaughter.
What has been learned from the SPD horrors has not been learned at all. Too many people have appeal cases yet to be heard. Resolves are few and lessons are NOT learned. The state’s rush to “improve health outcomes” will be doing the opposite. As the stories start coming out just who will be held responsible for the tragic results? Maggie Dee-Dowling
