Universal Assessment Stakeholder Workgroup Meeting

The California Department of Social Services (DSS), Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), and the California Department of Aging (CDA) are convening the first Home and Community Based Universal Assessment Workgroup meeting on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 10am-4pm.

As a component of the Coordinated Care Initiative, SB 1036 (Statutes of 2012) requires these departments to develop and test a Universal Assessment process to be used in the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), Multipurpose Senior Services (MSSP), and Community Based Adults Services (CBAS) programs. SB 1036 also specifies that this process shall build upon the existing IHSS uniform assessment process and the hourly task guidelines and the existing MSSP and CBAS processes and assessment tools.

The goal of this effort is to facilitate coordination, data sharing, care planning, and improved consumer quality of care. This process will consist of a selected group of Universal Assessment Workgroup members who are recognized stakeholders/experts in their fields, including but not limited to, beneficiaries, advocacy organizations, and representatives of various provider groups.

The public is invited to attend and listen in to the conversation on September 20th either in-person or by telephone. There will be public comment at the end of the meeting.
